Names added to Wall of Fame

Names of players are unveiled at the Robbie James Memorial outside the Liberty StadiumThe Robbie James Wall of Fame, at the Liberty Stadium, was established at the 2011 End of Season Awards’ Dinner and the aim is to induct 100 names onto the Wall of Fame, with twenty new inductees being announced annually at the Awards’ Dinner.

On Saturday October 19 (prior to the Sunderland game) the twenty names announced at this year’s Awards’ Dinner were formally added to the Wall.

The names to be added, with the years they were at the Swans, are:

LEN ALLCHURCH 1950-61 & 1969-71
FRANK BURROWS, MANAGER 1991-95
JEREMY CHARLES 1977-1983
MEL CHARLES 1952-59
CHRIS COLEMAN 1987-91
NOEL DWYER 1960-65
VIC GOMERSALL 1966-71
DAVID GWYTHER 1967-73
BILLY HOLE 1919-31
TOMMY HUTCHISON 1985-91
LEIGHTON JAMES 1980-83
STEPHEN JENKINS 1990-95
CLIFF JONES 1952-58
BILLY LUCAS 1948-54 MANAGER 1967-69
JIMMY McLAUGHLIN 1963-67 & 1972-74
TERRY MEDWIN 1948-56
ROY PAUL 1946-50
NIGEL STEVENSON 1975-87
JOE SYKES 1924-35
GEOFF THOMAS 1965-76

The ceremony at the Wall of Fame took place at 12.30pm on Saturday and most of those added were present or represented by family members.

Cliff Jones, Nigel Stevenson, Mel Charles, Jeremy Charles, David Gwyther, Steve Jenkins, Vic Gomersall, Terry Medwin, Chris Coleman and Leighton James all attended and there were hundreds of Swans fans in attendance for the ceremony.
