Welcome to the Swansea City Supporters’ Trust’s page in the match day programme for tonight’s league encounter. As usual we’d like to give a warm welcome to our opponents, Blackburn Rovers, and their fans who have made the long trip to South West Wales this evening. We hope you enjoy your visit to our city, although we plan to be the ones keeping the three points!
When it comes to the Championship, there are two statements that are often stated by fans and pundits alike that are proving to be very true. Firstly, there is no such thing as an easy game. Secondly, you are never too far away from the next game. After last Sunday’s disappointing result at West Bromwich Albion, we’re sure Steve Cooper and the team are delighted for the opportunity to quickly forget about that game and seek to return to winning ways this evening. Ironically, for most of the first half, the Swans were more than competitive against quite probably the best team in this division. Unfortunately, goals change games and the best teams punish individual mistakes, and we paid a very heavy price for both at The Hawthorns.
Whilst looking to bounce back to winning ways this evening, we’re sure tonight’s game will also prove to be a tough contest, as both games were against Blackburn last season. The last time the two teams met was during the final game of last season where both sides shared the spoils in an entertaining 2-2 draw at Ewood Park. While we won the corresponding home fixture last season by three goals to one, we were a goal down until the 64th minute. For Swans fans looking for positive omens, that result ended a run of only one win in seven games, whereas currently we have only won one of our last six games.
While Sunday saw the end of the only undefeated away record in the EFL, we’re conscious that home results have not been quite as positive as those enjoyed away from home. This is in stark contrast to most of 2019 where we enjoyed a long undefeated streak at the Liberty. Sometimes football is like that, where you go through purple patches of good results whereas sometimes you can play well without getting the result. Our latest home game against Fulham being a classic case in point, where we played very well for most of the game but were very unfortunate to lose 2-1 against one of the strongest squads in the division. We are sure that the Jack Army will be in fine voice this evening as we look to support the team to get back to winning ways at the Liberty!
As usual, we’d like to remind everyone that your Swans’ Trust representatives can be found at the pod outside the West Stand prior to today’s match and that you can keep up with all Trust news at www.swanstrust.co.uk or via our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram pages.
