Following the club’s official announcement earlier this evening HERE Swansea City Supporters’ Trust extends a warm welcome to new head coach Russell Martin.
The Trust is also delighted to learn that Alan Tate will continue in his capacity as first-team coach.
Following extensive talks with the club over the past few days Russell joins us on a 3-year contract and concludes a successful search for Steve Coopers replacement. He has been at MK Dons in League 1 since November 2019, steering them clear of the relegation battle in that first campaign, and then a respectable 13th position last season.
Russell has a very clear philosophy of how he wants his team to play which should fit in very well with our renowned ‘Swansea Way’. Whilst this is being implemented and will be welcomed by our fans, a little patience will be needed.
With club finances being tighter than ever and with parachute payments ended, Russell’s work in the transfer and loan market, in conjunction with Andy Scott, will be crucial and eagerly awaited. We also have a talented crop of youngsters coming through from the Academy into the squad and we look forward to seeing them develop still further under Russell and his coaching team in the years ahead.
We wish Russell and his team the best of luck in their new roles.
