When and why did you join the Swans Trust Board?
I joined the Trust Board in 2021. My passion for the club & the Trust is about doing whatever we can to ensure the Swans are still here in another 100 years for current & future Jacks – Covid gave me the opportunity to take an early retirement package after over 38 years working for a major UK Bank – predominantly leading teams across the South West of England & South Wales – so whilst I live on the English side of the bridge I now have some free time to offer & hopefully I learnt a few things that could be of use to the Trust.
What is your role at the Trust?
I joined the Board in 2021 and took on the role of Vice Chair in 2022, replacing Ceri Stone as he moved to become the Associate Director. As part of my role, I support Dave and the wider Board across the full range of our activities, as well as working closely with the Finance & Shareholding groups using my experience. I also sit on our Comms group to help find new ways to communicate and engage with both members & future members..
What are your views on the future and how will you support that?
With the legal case behind us, the Trust can return its focus to building a full & meaningful relationship with the local Swansea based management team at the club. That will allow us the opportunity to deliver a passionate voice for both our fellow Trust members & the wider Jack Army – in addition the Trust should have the funds & crucially resources to support local grass roots football-based causes and locally based charities. I’m committed to supporting both the Trust and the Club as we move forward.
Best Swans memory?
Way too many, but I guess if I had to select one it would be our Europa League trip & 3-0 win in Valencia back in September 2013 – I still remember drinking & singing long into the night in a Valencian square!
