When and why did you join the Swans Trust Board?

I applied for a co-opted vacancy on the Trust Board in August 2022, motivated by a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the club I’ve passionately supported since the mid-1970s. The opportunity became particularly compelling when I learned of the Trust’s intention to develop a new strategy to guide its future direction, including a focus on preserving and celebrating the club’s heritage. With an extensive background in strategic plan making—particularly in environmental stewardship—I’m pleased to bring forward skills that are highly relevant to this work, such as long-term visioning, community engagement, and shaping clear deliverable objectives that support the Trust’s strategic priorities.

What is your role at the Trust?

I was elected Supporter Director in August 2023. This involves acting as the main supporter voice in the club – where I am also appointed onto the club board of directors. I help manage Trust member and supporter queries and enquiries, working with the club to resolve issues and advance the interests of supporters. I also help deliver activities to boost Trust membership, and act as a public face of the Trust at club and Trust events, as well as with external stakeholders such as the Football Supporters Association.

What are your views on the future and how will you support that?

Look ahead, not back. We are where we are as a football club and as a Supporters Trust, and while past experiences shape us, our focus must be firmly on the future. We all want success on the pitch, but to support our team effectively, we must also be prepared for the challenges that lie ahead off it. Over the coming year, I’ll be continuing to help the club implement practical measures to enhance the matchday experience for supporters and support more effective and sustainable operations. At the same time, it has been clear that the Trust’s original objectives—set out in 2001—needed to evolve to reflect the changing landscape and the opportunities to work with the club in new and more impactful ways, both as a shareholder and as a voice for supporters. To that end, the Trust will shortly publish a new 5-year strategy, setting out a clear vision and direction for our work. This strategy will guide our priorities and actions, with a strong emphasis on improved communication, greater transparency, and meaningful engagement with fans. It’s an exciting step forward, and I’m committed to helping ensure it delivers real value for the club and its supporters.

Best Swans memory?

Has to be the 2011 Play-off final for the sheer emotion. It was also the first away game for my two young sons and made them lifelong fans.
