In January Swansea City Supporters’ Trust were delighted to publish our full report on the Matchday Experience at Swansea City, which we kicked-off in October 2023. Our earlier release which included the full survey report is available to access HERE
The project was established to better understand the experience of supporters in and around the stadium on matchdays and identify positive changes that could improve this. Almost 1000 supporters responded to our survey with the results providing a clear and strong case for changes to be made.
We promised to take the next steps with the support of the club to form a joint working group that will own these findings and others that are identified.
We are pleased to advise this group made up of a combination of club, Trust and supporter representatives held their first meeting at the Swansea.com stadium on Friday 23rd February 2024.
During this meeting a number of recommendations were made which we are pleased to advise will begin to be implemented by the club over the final few home games of the season beginning on Saturday v Cardiff City. They are:
‘Day Dream Believer’ will be played as the players are getting ready to come out/line up.
This will be followed by ‘Take me to the Vetch Field’ as the teams walk out.
Following these two local anthems we are hoping supporters will take over just before kick off by singing ‘Hymns and Arias’ as loud and proud as they can. This will not be tagged onto music as we believe our supporters can take full ownership of this piece.
There will also be a display of WELSH and SWANS flags prior to kick off along the East Stand touch line thanks to the help and support of Mr Flag’s official Flag Crew.
This is aimed at both producing a great visual display & remind us all of our proud local and national footballing heritage.
Going forward from the upcoming QPR game on Easter Monday it is planned to have Kev Johns read out our line ups pitch side.
There are also other ideas being trialled in the background by the club over the final few games of the season alongside more working group meetings planned over the coming months.
We will duly discuss these and aim to take forward any recommendations that the working group feel can enhance the matchday experience of our supporters.
We will update Trust members and supporters of these accordingly.
