“Going to the Game” Pilot Programme

The Swans Trust are pleased to announce today that we have agreed to take part in a pilot programme with the developers of “Going to the Game” (GTTG).

This pilot will take place over our next 7 Championship matches to gauge the levels of interest and uptake via a new and free app just launched by GTTG to help supporters share journeys to home and away matches, save money and reduce the number of cars travelling individually.

How does it work?

Simply download the GTTG app which is available on iPhone and Android via the https://goingtothegame.com/ website or through the following links:

Apple App Store – Going to the Game

Google Play – Going to the Game

The idea is simple: if a Swans supporter is driving to a home or away game with spare seats, or another fan is looking for a lift, GTTG gives them a dedicated place to connect and organise the journey that also helps reduce everyone’s travel costs.

Given the distances our supporters regularly face for away fixtures, and indeed for many attending our home matches, we think this is an initiative worth exploring further.

For clarity, this idea isn’t intended to replace organised coach or rail travel. But it can complement those options for fans who need more flexibility, live away from Swansea, or are already driving independently.

Taking part in the pilot

Any Swans supporters interested in participating simply need to download and register their details on the app and consider utilising it for any of our upcoming home or away matches:

  • Norwich City (home) – Saturday 10th October
  • Millwall (away) – Tuesday 13th October
  • West Ham Utd (home) – Saturday 17th October
  • QPR (away) – Saturday 24th October
  • Blackburn Rovers (home) – Saturday 31st October
  • Portsmouth (away) – Tuesday 3rd November
  • Birmingham City (away) – Saturday 7th November

Note: fixture list checked 29th September 2026. Dates and kick-off times remain subject to change. The proposed pilot period follows the September/October international break and ends before the November break.

What do we want to learn?

We want to see is we can help more Swansea supporters fill spare seats, make travel more affordable and keep sharing journeys?

We also want to encourage Swans supporters to download the app so that they can take part in this trial whatever their usual travel arrangements may be?

Alongside finding or offering a lift, they can simply log how they got to the game i.e. by coach, mini bus, train, car or another method.

And the more supporters who log their journeys, the more useful the picture of matchday travel becomes. That could help the Club understand our supporter travel patterns and associated emissions, while giving the Trust evidence to support discussions about better travel options and, potentially, future fan incentives.

What happens after the pilot ends?

After the 7-match pilot is completed any Swans supporters who have utilised the GTTG app will be asked to complete a feedback form that includes ease of use, the process of finding and arranging lifts, confidence in the checking processes, travel costs and of course willingness to use GTTG again.

GTTG will then provide the Swans Trust with an anonymised summary, also suitable for sharing with Swansea City AFC, that includes completed shared journeys, seats filled, miles shared, estimated separate car journeys avoided, estimated CO2 emissions avoided and money saved, together with supporter feedback.

Lasting benefits

Supporters sharing journeys to any of our Swansea City matches will always help reduce the carbon footprint of matchday travel.

Plus, if the pilot demonstrates value and the interest levels are good, GTTG and the Swans Trust will then look to discuss the initiative further with Swansea City AFC with the aim of expanding it out in a manner that benefits our supporters and the Club.
