Following the success of the Swans Supporters Flags initiative at the end of last season the Swansea City Supporters’ Trust are pleased to confirm that the scheme is to continue into the new season. It was great to see the flags from supporters groups both locally and from all over the world on display not just at the at the Liberty but also at Reading and Griffin Park in those unforgettable end of season games.
It was obvious from the success of the initiative earlier in the summer that many of our fans take great pride in seeing their flags on display at the Liberty Stadium (and beyond!) and particularly when they get to see them on-screen or on social media! So with the kind co-operation and support of the club in these unprecedented times, we are delighted to see it continue.
As in the original scheme the Trust have worked closely with the club to develop the following protocol so that fans are able to display their flags at the Liberty Stadium while games are played behind closed doors or with limited crowds. As we are sure you can appreciate, we need to ensure we comply with the necessary health and safety regulations that need to be in place during this period.
So if you haven’t already got your flag displayed at the stadium but would like to do so please follow these guidelines:
- Please ensure your flag has been properly cleaned (e.g. using your washing machine) beforehand
- Pack your flag and include a) a slip of paper containing your name, address and contact details, b) a photo of your flag and c) the location of where your flag is usually displayed on match-day.
- While following Welsh Government guidelines in terms of social distancing and travel restrictions, please either drop your flag into the Liberty Stadium reception or send to Liberty Stadium, Swansea, SA1 2FA.
Please note that all flags must be made of flame-retardant fabric and cannot be home-made banners. Flags of a political or offensive nature will not be allowed to be displayed. We cannot guarantee your flag will be displayed in any particular location however we will endeavour to ensure they are displayed as prominently as possible. As the flags will be left in place around the stadium during this period, neither the Trust nor Swansea City Football Club can be held responsible for any damage or loss, so are left at the owner’s risk.
And if you live further afield and need some advice on getting a flag made up you can contact Mr Flag in Swansea by emailing info@mrflag.com
