What is the Swans Trust?

Members ForumSWANSEA CITY SUPPORTERS TRUST

Over the coming weeks we will be actively campaigning for as many Swansea City supporters as possible to become a Swansea City Supporters Trust member for 2018/2019. We will begin here by describing, in very simple terms, the Swans Trust and why it is important. We will provide more on other Trust activities as time progresses via our website www.swanstrust.co.uk. You can also keep up to date with any latest Trust developments via our regular features in our home match day programmes. Details on how to join the Trust can be found here: Join the Trust

What is the Swans Trust?

The main aims of the Swans Trust are to maintain a professional football club in Swansea and to bring the club closer to the local community. The Trust was formed by supporters in 2001 during difficult times when the football club was struggling for survival. The Trust currently owns 21% of the shares of the football club.

How is the Trust organised?

The Trust has a board that is elected by Trust members, with Phil Sumbler being Chairman of the Trust board. Stuart MacDonald as Supporter Director represents the Trust on the board of directors of the football club. In addition to the individual experience of Trust board members, additional support is provided by financial and legal advisors.

Why should you become a member of the Trust?

The Trust represents the voice of supporters to the football club. By joining the Trust you can influence the decisions the Trust makes by electing the Trust board and by voting on matters of significance. The Trust plays an active role in the day-to-day running of the football club and arranges a broad range of activities that benefit communities and schools in the Swansea area. The Trust needs you as a member to ensure the interests of Swans supports are well represented and to ensure the best possible future for the football club.

How does the Trust communicate with its members?

The Trust engages and communicates with its members in a variety of ways including through the Trust website (see below), email, hard copy mailings, Facebook, Twitter, and Fans Forums. In early September the Trust held a Fans Forum for members at the Landore Social Club. Phil Sumbler provided an update on various topics, followed by a wide-ranging discussion between Trust members and board representatives. The Trust website www.swanstrust.co.uk contains a transcript of Phil’s update as well as a whole host of other information that you might find useful.

How can I meet Trust board members?

Board members are available to talk with all Swans supporters before home games at the Trust Pod at the Liberty Stadium (adjacent to the club shop), the Landore Social Club and various other venues around the stadium. Many board members wear clothing with the Trust logo prominently displayed, so are easily recognisable. Board members are always keen to hear your ideas on how the Trust can become more effective.

How can I find out more?

Visit the Trust website at www.swanstrust.co.uk for more information, including how to join the Trust (online, by mail, or at the Trust pod). We are also on Facebook and Twitter. Contact us at info@swanstrust.co.uk with any questions, or approach a Trust board member at various locations around the ground on match days.
