Good afternoon Pawb.

Welcome back to the Swansea.com Stadium for a Saturday Remembrance Day match, 3pm kick off, and with Blackburn visiting us today it promises to be another exciting occasion.

Last Saturdays defeat to QPR was a really tough one to take in, but we would have learnt from this and we will be back on track today.

Swansea have dominated the recent fixture history winning 4 out of 5 Championship meetings against Blackburn including the 3-1 victory in January this year at this stadium.

Blackburn arrive with morale high after defeating Wrexham 2-0, and this may provide a tough test this afternoon, but with another strong home crowd behind us, and the determination set hard in our team, I am confident we can rise to the challenge once again.

Before the match, we will remember those that fought and fell for our country, we will have veterans from all 3 services on the pitch, led on by myself.

We will have Korean war veterans stood as guard of honour on the touchline. These veterans are in their 90s now. Along with a piper, RBL standards, a bugler playing the Last Post and Reveille, plus both team managers laying wreaths, this will be a respectful Act of Remembrance.

Please give the veterans a huge round of applause as they deserve it, but most of all, remember those that never returned home and those that have served in all the conflicts since WW2 that made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Then on the 8th November – Remembrance Sunday – we will be holding a service just before 11am at the Swansea.com stadium where representatives of Swansea City AFC, the Swans Trust and the Swansea Veterans will be laying wreaths at the WW1 plaque. More details are available here and everyone is welcome to attend.

Thank you, as always, to everyone who continues to support the Trust and to all members who have renewed or joined this season. It only takes a few minutes to sign up online, or you can visit us at the Trust kiosk before any home game.

The Trust have very kindly offered free membership to serving forces, reservists and veterans this year which can be accessed online here. This is an extremely kind gesture and is very much appreciated by our military community.

This season, all donations received on matchdays go directly towards the excellent work of the Swansea Veterans Hub, supporting veterans, serving personnel and their families across our community……

So, enjoy the game and the atmosphere and say hello to the veterans

Wayne
