Why did you join the Trust Board: Having retired I now have the time to offer my skills and experience where I believe they would be useful 1) to improve communication and transparency between the Trust Board and Trust members and 2) to work on initiatives to recruit more members and, in particular, younger members, to the Trust.
What attributes/skills are you able to bring to the Board: My career, initially in the field of science, led to a lengthy period at senior management level in tertiary and local authority education. As a result, I believe that I have a wide range of skills such as team working, a logical mind, and the ability to argue a case, that are relevant to Board members. My experience of working with young people also gives me an insight that would help in the aim of attracting younger members to the Trust.
How do you feel the Trust can further develop its representation of members and the wider fan base: While not an easy task, somewhat like walking a tightrope, in order to influence the running of Swansea City Football Club effectively, the Trust needs to continue to build positive working relationships at all levels within the Club, whilst at the same time being independent enough to challenge as appropriate. This also means the Trust Board being more accessible to Trust members and other supporters, to keep them informed, listen to their concerns and convey these to the relevant parties.
