Trust Statement – New Shares

The Swans Trust can confirm that a further £10m of new shares have been issued following investment that has been made by the club’s majority owners including Club Chairman Andrew Coleman. A brief statement from the club was made earlier today HERE

This is in line with what we have communicated to members and supporters over the past few months where the Club’s Board has been seeking new investment to support the advancement of the club. The Trust continues to share information on new investors and updates on shareholding with our members and supporters as soon as possible.

The Trust can confirm that this further investment is being made by Swansea Football LLC and includes funds made available by Andy Coleman, with the resultant new shares being issued to Swansea Football LLC. This will affect the respective shareholdings for all current parties, with the Trust’s shareholding in the club becoming 10.67% (including its 5.00% permanently protected ownership position)

This investment will help provide the club with new working capital as we approach the start of the new season, and we hope it will be used to support improvements to the playing squad in the remainder of this transfer window, upgrades to the club’s infrastructure and contribute towards the clubs’ overhead costs.

Huw Jenkins

The Trust is also aware that former Chairman Huw Jenkins is no longer a Director of the Club. Mr Jenkins resigned from his role at the club after 17 years of service in February 2019, having previously played a major role in the Swans’ rise from the fourth tier to the Premier League in 2011 and overseen the most successful period in the club’s history.

Our ongoing engagement with supporters, the majority owners and Club Board

The Trust has met with all of the majority owners of the club over the past few months. Going forward we will seek to continue building these relationships through Club Chairman Andy Coleman at every available opportunity. We are pleased to confirm that Andy has now moved over to Swansea with his family and we are looking forward to continuing with our regular meetings with him and the local management team at the club over the coming months.

In our previous conversations, we have been able to share our views on the club, the role of the Trust, and our desire to work together as stewards of the club in the future. In return, Andy (and the majority owners) have shared their views to the Trust and Club Board on their areas of focus and what they hope to bring to the club.

We are encouraged by the open way in which the club’s board members and new investors have approached engagement with us and look forward to several planned opportunities for further public engagements with Andy in the coming weeks and months.

We are also working with Andy and the club to set up some supporter engagement events such as fans Forums and Structured Dialogue meetings in the early part of the season and the club and the Trust will provide more details of these in due course
