The Fan-Led Review authored by Tracey Crouch MP is perhaps the most important and timely review into the football pyramid in its history. There is no doubt that the past two years have been incredibly tough (financially) on football clubs from the top to the bottom of the pyramid, and it has shone a light on the fragility of our clubs, the unsustainable financial disparity between leagues, and how important supporters remain to the long-term sustainability of the game.
The comprehensive review produced a set of 10 strategic recommendations covering all facets of the game, from the establishment of an independent regulator, to better due diligence and fitness to serve tests for potential owners and directors, and for a better system to monitor and support players’ welfare – especially those at the early stage of their careers.
The full report was published on 24 November 2021 and can be viewed in its entirety by clicking here
The Swansea City Supporters’ Trust were part of the original group of organisations interviewed as part of this review and are pleased to see that several areas that we discussed have been included as part of this report. We are in no doubt that clubs would be nothing without their supporters and welcome the recommendations of this report, which aim to put supporters squarely at the heart of how the game is run.
The next step of this review is to consider how fans feel about the recommendations of the review and lend support and credibility to the report at a national level.
We are also keen to create a pulse check amongst our supporters around changes and improvements that can be made at a local level with the club. That forms a part of the survey series.
That is why today with the full support of Swansea City Football Club, the Swans Trust is launching a 6-part survey for members and fans to understand local views on the future of both our club and those throughout the UK.
Our first survey which focuses on Regulation & Financial Sustainability can be completed by scanning the following QR code or clicking here

This 6-week series of simple online questionnaires will seek to break down the Crouch Report into digestible pieces, meaning Swans supporters will be able to fill out each part in just a few minutes.
We hope you will engage with us and Swansea City Football Club over the next 6 weeks. Upon completion of the surveys at the end of April we intend to share the results with our supporters, the Football Supporters’ Association and Tracey Crouch MP.
As always, please email us info@swanstrust.co.uk or reach out via Social Media @SwansTrust with any questions or comments.
The second survey of six will be announced on our website and social media channels on Monday 28th March.
Thank you in advance for your support for this important activity.
