Dwr y Felin School – Enterprise & Employability Challenge

As part of their Welsh Baccalaureate qualification Year 11 pupils from Dwr y Felin School, Neath, have been tackling the Supporters’ Trust Enterprise and Employability Challenge titled:

‘Suggest a way of improving young people’s matchday experience’

After working as small groups over the last few months they pitched their ideas to teachers in school who chose what they considered to be the strongest three. Those three groups visited the stadium on Tuesday 26th November. After they’d all enjoyed a tour of the stadium each group presented their ideas to a three strong judging panel that consisted of:

Hayley Ford, Head of Supporter Services, Swansea City Football Club
Tom Williams, Head of Programmes, Swans Foundation
Lee Trundle, Swansea City FC Ambassador

The members of the panel questioned each group on the details of their proposals and closely inspected their presentation boards before selecting the overall winners.

This all forms part of our Schools’ Programme we announced earlier this season.

Trust Board member and Schools Programme co-ordinator Roger Goodwin said afterwards:

“This was another excellent school visit to the stadium. All of the panel and those of us from the Trust were very impressed with the pupils and the research they’d undertaken for their presentations.

“Adults and pupils alike thoroughly enjoyed the morning. The youngsters were a delight to work with and a credit to Dwr y Felin school”.

The Trust would like to thank the panel members for giving up their time to make the process a very realistic and professional experience for the pupils. And once again we’d like to thank Swansea City Football Club for allowing the event to take place and for making the tour and stadium facilities available to the school.
