The Swans Trust note the recent announcement of increases to matchday ticket prices for the 2022/23 season and the clubs latest Ticketing update here. Naturally it is disappointing for us to see increases to ticket prices in what is a particularly challenging economic climate.
The Trust were involved in discussions with the club around ticket prices, and ultimately objected to the proposed increases – our position was that prices should have been frozen for an additional season as families and supporters seek to manage their outgoings.
Unfortunately, in this instance the club felt it had no other option but to take the difficult decision to implement these increases to reflect the challenging economic conditions and matchday costs that they are also facing.
The club and the Trust sought to ensure Season Ticket prices are among the very lowest in the Championship, and we are encouraged that these discussions proved worthwhile as season ticket prices remain low in comparison to many other championship clubs.
Nevertheless, we understand that there will be concern amongst fans about increasing costs and decisions that may need to be taken with regards to visiting the Swansea.com stadium this upcoming season. We are committed to continuing discussions with the club’s senior management team on these matters throughout the course of the season on a number of initiatives such as that announced by the club earlier confirming a reciprocal arrangement with Reading Football Club that offers supporters £20 tickets for our away fixture on Boxing Day and Reading’s visit to the Swansea.com Stadium on Tuesday, 18 October.
The Trust has, and always will, seek to represent the views of the fans and protect their interests as much as is possible. Whilst we may not always get what we want, we are encouraged by the club’s invites for ongoing dialogue about this and look forward to continuing these discussions, implementing the initiatives the club announced earlier today and identifying new ideas and opportunities to provide affordable matchday tickets for fans.
